Your template signals professionalism before a single word is read. Choose a clean, well-structured layout that is easy to scan. Avoid overly creative designs for traditional industries — save those for design or creative roles.
A single typo can eliminate you from consideration. Read your resume out loud, use spellcheck, and ask someone else to review it. First impressions are made in seconds, and errors destroy credibility instantly.
Add your LinkedIn URL to your contact section. Recruiters always check it. Make sure your LinkedIn is up to date and matches your resume — inconsistencies raise red flags.
Always send your resume as a PDF, not a Word document. PDFs look identical on every device and cannot be accidentally edited. Make sure the file name is professional: "FirstName_LastName_Resume.pdf".
